Dear friends and family,
For 3 weeks, no looting took place in our city! Thanks for praying! However, a small room attached to our church building was broken into and we lost a small TV. Somehow, the burglars failed to enter our main building! Thank you very much for praying! 30 minutes before our prayer meeting was scheduled to start last Wednesday, we had to postpone it by a day. The roads to church were blocked by a demonstration. Inflation goes up at an alarming rate. In the unofficial market, one dollar is equivalent to 7,100 BsF today! Who could afford food or medical treatment? Both of us had a cold, but we have recovered.
God used Psalm 33:18-19, 34:10, 116:3-4 & 8 and 125:1-2 to comfort his congregation. Thanks for praying!
Manjohn meets with Danny every Thursday for 2 hours. He shared with Danny his insight about preaching. Danny is developing well as a servant of God. Pray that God will continue to build him up in this difficult environment.
We planned to train 9 people to share the gospel at our youth group meeting on June 3. 2 of our young teenagers took part in 2 teams in the last visitation. They shared their experience. They saw 7 families hear the gospel! We were ecstatic. We have not seen a lot of Christian teenagers going to unsafe neighborhood to pass out food and share the gospel. They did it and saw 3 families pray to receive Jesus in one morning! Praise the Lord! Before this meeting, 9 young people from a sister church asked if they could join us this time. They intended to sing praises to the Lord with us. They knew nothing about this training. They were thrilled to hear about this tangible way to serve the poor with breakfast and the gospel. They listened attentively, took part in training and immediately volunteered to join.
On June 17, 17 persons from our church plus these 9 will join believers from another church to bring breakfast and gospel to Spanish-speaking people living at a needy neighborhood. Some will start cooking breakfast at 4am. From 8am to around 11am, about 16 teams will visit 48 households (about 200 people). Please pray for weather, traffic, protection and especially the work of the Holy Spirit. Pray that some will believe and some will start going to church. Pray also for follow-up. Pray that our young people will experience God.
Deaconess Betty will preach on July 16. Sunshine will preach on August 13. Please pray God will enable these lay leaders and use them to speak for himself.
Please pray God would protect us, the believers here and our church from the evil ones. At the end of September, we shall go back to Canada for 6 months of home assignment. Pray that the believers here will trust in the Great Shepherd as the church prepares for our absence.
The Lord be with you!
