Dear friends and family,
Two months ago, we came back to Canada. We were tired but grateful because our exit from Venezuela took place without incident and we could start to really relax. Thank you for praying. Getting settled in Toronto required more energy than expected. We feel settled now.
Shortly after we came back, our supervisor wisely ordered us to rest. Our bodies, minds and spirits did need a good rest. After 40 days, we feel strong again. Thank you for praying.
We thank God for the privilege of witnessing to his wisdom, power and faithfulness at the churches here. Till the end of March, we shall continue to share at churches. Please pray that God will call believers to missionary service.
The conditions in Venezuela remain grim. One dollar could now be converted to 84,400 BsF! When we left 2 months ago, it was only 22,000! A young man just told me he could no longer afford internet service (which is already heavily subsidized).
God is still at work in Valencia. {A} After we left, 3 lay leaders (Victoria, Sunshine & Beth) had preached. And Lil would preach her 1st sermon in December! That is a big step forward for them. Please pray God will help all 4 of them to speak for him. {B}While attendance is declining across the board, attendance of our youth group has been rising significantly! To us, this indicates that God is blessing the ministry of Danny (who had replaced Manjohn as leader of the youth ministry). Please pray that Danny would continue to grow as a servant of God. Besides studying at the University, he is taking a course at the Alliance Seminary in Valencia. Pray that God will provide for his needs and use him to build up the young generation. Pray also that Sunshine (leader of the board), and the other board members will continue to support Danny and his ministry.
Please pray that the believers in Valencia would know God, and trust and obey him in adversity.
