New Year and New Beginning
For a while now we have been thinking and praying about how to make NVOC sustainable in Niger. We found out that the local church in Goudel, the neighborhood where we work, has also been looking for a ministry to serve their neighbors. Pastor Amadou and his wife Hassi in the top photo are well known for their love and care for the people around them. Hassi has been our cook at NVOC for years, so she knows the ministry and the students very well. After taking much time to discern the option to partner with them and talking with their leaders and our leadership, we have decided to pursue this partnership and move the school to their church compound.
This year, Hassi is working alongside us to learn how everything works. Next year, it will be the other way around as she will take the lead and we will help her where needed. Once the students in this cycle have written their exams in June we hope to start with a new group of girls next October. Hassi and Pastor Amadou are excited about this opportunity to minister in their neighbourhood and so are we as we see their passion and God’s hand in how this all came together. They told us they have been praying like Moses: ‘If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here’ (Ex 33:15) and we have seen God’s presence in this whole transition!
This week marks the official launch of NVOC in this new location and we are very thankful for a smooth transition. We praise God for this new partnership and look forward to all that He has in store for us.
Thank you for upholding us in your prayers. We couldn’t do this without you!
