Service Title: Children & Youth Pastor

Position Status: Full-time, permanent salaried position

Location: 1490 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, Ontario

Reports to: Senior Pastor of New Covenant Alliance Church

Oversight to: Children and Youth Ministry Team (ChYMT)

We are looking for a passionate, full-time Children and Youth Pastor (CYP), with a clear calling from God, to lead, guide and expand our children and youth ministry. In addition to the spiritual growth of our children and youth, our desire is to provide holistic care to the family, to meet the needs of our church and community. The role of the CYP is to help us accomplish our vision of building a strong ministry for children, youth and empowering parents to make disciples in their own home.

New Covenant Alliance Church (NCAC) is a growing, multi-ethnic, and intergenerational church, located in the city of Scarborough.

We are an established Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) church that goes into the community, helping people enter the Kingdom of God. The church has an average of 200 congregants with 2 Sunday morning services, one English speaking service and one Cantonese speaking service. We desire to see a dynamic CYP to impact future generations for Christ and drive outreach initiatives to reach new children, youth, and families in our community. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To nurture and cultivate the spiritual growth of children and youth (age 0 to 17 years old);
  • Develop intentional relationships with children and youth to lead them to Christ;
  • Model a Christ-centered lifestyle and behaviour and demonstrate a strong yet humble servant attitude;
  • Provide overall leadership for the Children and Youth ministry that aligns with the vision and direction of NCAC, including oversight and training for Children and Youth ministry workers;
  • Be available to counsel and pray with children and their parents regarding spiritual matters, both at their homes or in the church;
  • Oversee all ministries and programming including but are not limited to:
    ○ Sunday School
    ○ Children’s Worship
    ○ Breakfast Program
    ○ Youth Fellowship (FOG)
    ○ Outreach events to new children and youth of our community
    ○ Vacation Bible School (VBS) in the summer
    ○ Mission Conferences, and
    ○ Special Events (Easter, Christmas)
  • Ensure open and timely communications with parents and congregants is maintained;
  • Foster partnerships with parents, other ministry workers, and/or the Ministry Teams;
  • Promote family worship and discipleship, working closely with and equipping parents for their children’s spiritual formation;
  • Work with the Missions Committee to provide mission education and identify suitable Short Term Mission opportunities.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Senior Pastor of NCAC;
  • Maintain regular and clear channels of communication with the Senior Pastor to obtain the Pastor’s input, insight and affirmation related to plans, initiatives and decisions;
  • Participate in pastoral staff and Elders Board meetings as non-voting member;
  • Keep pastoral staff and Board of Elders informed of emergent situations and ministry progress;
  • Prepare and manage Children’s and Youth ministry budget and expenditures;
  • General pastoral responsibilities and other duties as required and directed by the Senior Pastor;
  • Execute, Maintain and update volunteer profiles by ensuring adherence to the rules as set out by “Policy to Protect”. Periodic new and refresher training must be conducted for child and youth worker;
  • Maintain up to date ministry records, (e.g. Minutes, plans, evaluations, etc.)
  • Ministers in accordance with the New Covenant Alliance Church Constitution and Bylaws.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Committed follower of Christ with strong conviction of calling by God into ministry, specifically leading children and youth to Christ;
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of Biblical doctrine and practice;
  • Love for children and youth and desire to see their families grow in the Christian faith;
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of church experience (voluntary or on staff) in pastoring children and youth with targeted experience in a leadership capacity;
  • Experience in recruiting, motivating, and equipping volunteer leaders to minister to children, youth, and their families;
  • Minimum post-secondary undergraduate theological diploma or degree from an accredited institution; major in children/youth ministry an asset;
  • Strong communication and public speaking skill. Fluent in English (written, verbal and interpersonal); knowledge of Cantonese is an asset;
  • A team player with strong relational skills; connect well with parents, children, and youth;
  • Ability to embrace change, demonstrate adaptability without compromising Biblical principles, and eagerness to learn and seek improvement opportunities.
